1958 Lancia Aurelia B24S Convertible for sale on BaT Auctions

This 1958 Lancia Aurelia B24S is one of 521 convertibles built during three years of production and was completed on May 6, 1958. Chassis 1649 was initially registered in Italy and spent time in France before being imported to the US in the mid-2010s. The car was purchased by the current owner on BaT in January 2016 , and subsequent mechanical refurbishment work totaling ~$81k was carried out over a subsequent period of eight years. Service involved overhauling the brakes, hydraulic systems, and steering box as well as repairing the electrical system and rebuilding the Weber carburetor, the clutch cylinders, and a number of ancillary engine components. The fuel pump, motor mounts, and tires were also replaced, and the underside was cleaned with dry ice. Finished in metallic gray over red leather, the car is powered by a 2,451cc V6 mated to a four-speed manual transaxle. It rides on Borrani knock-off wheels and is further equipped with a black convertible top, sliding-pillar front suspension, and a De Dion rear axle. This B24S was featured in a 2016 BaT Success Story and is now offered on dealer consignment in La Jolla, California, with service records, ASI documentation, and a clean Montana title. The Aurelia convertible was introduced in 1956 as a more-refined successor to the B24 Spider, from which it was differentiated by roll-up side windows, a conventional windshield with fixed quarter vents, larger doors with exterior handles, a single-piece front bumper, and a widened hood scoop. Offered solely in left-hand drive, the convertible model shared its mechanical underpinnings with the contemporary fifth- and sixth-series B20 coupe while riding on a wheelbase 8” shorter than that of its closed counterpart.
