1967 Citroen DS21 Henri Chapron Serie 2 Cabriolet Conversion by Karl's Autowerkstatt for sale on BaT Auctions

This Citroën DS21 was initially registered in France on September 9, 1967, and later underwent an Henri Chapron Série 2 cabriolet conversion by Karl’s Autowerkstatt of Brensbach, Germany, that was commissioned by the seller in 2023. Following completion of the build in December of that year, the car was driven around southern Europe for several months before being brought to the US and titled in California in February 2025. Finished in black with a matching cloth soft top, the car rides on a self-leveling and height-adjustable hydro-pneumatic suspension and is equipped with power steering, power-assisted brakes, and 15″ wheels with stainless-steel covers. Inside, the re-trimmed cabin features dark fuchsia leather upholstery as well as retrofitted Jaeger instrumentation. Power is supplied by a 2.2-liter inline-four fitted with a single Weber downdraft carburetor, while gear changes are through a column-shifted five-speed manual transaxle. The DS cabriolet was first built in 1958 by Parisian coachbuilder Henri Chapron, who later reached a deal with Citroën to produce two-door convertibles under contract from 1960 to 1971. This car underwent an Henri Chapron Série 2 cabriolet conversion in 2023 that was completed by Karl’s Autowerkstatt, a German shop that was named the licensed manufacturer of continuation cars built on behalf of Chapron International in 2020. According to the company, each Série 2 carries a unique production number listed in Chapron Registry and is accompanied by an Henri Chapron Carrossier certificate. Work completed as part of the conversion involved reinforcing the frame, replacing rust-damaged metal, lengthening the doors, and grafting a revised rear body section.
