52-Years-Family-Owned 1972 Datsun 240Z 4-Speed

About This Car

This 1972 Datsun 240Z was purchased from its original owner in 1974 by the seller’s mother, who used the car as a daily driver and autocross vehicle until the early 1980s. The seller acquired the Datsun in 2005, and it has been driven less than 20 miles since that time and has been stored in a garage near Louisville, Kentucky. Repainted in New Sight Orange over black vinyl, the car is powered by a 2.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Later-model 14″ Nissan alloy wheels have been installed, and a Halda Twinmaster rally odometer, a Pioneer cassette stereo, and an electric fuel pump have been added. The carburetors and the rear brakes were rebuilt in 2020, the wheels were refinished, and the tires were replaced. This 240Z is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, partial service records and inspection certificates from the 1980s and 1990s, and an Indiana title in the seller’s name. Finished from the factory in New Sight Orange (918), the car is said to have been repainted prior to 2005. Features include a driver-side mirror, Z badging on the C-pillars, bright window trim, and chrome bumpers with rubberized trim. The seller points out overspray, chips, and scratches in the paint as well as dents in the hood and the roof panels. Bubbling paint and rust are noted on the quarter panels and below the fuel-filler flap. The telescoping antenna is stuck in the pictured position. Four-spoke 14″ alloy wheels from a later-model Nissan are mounted with BFGoodrich Premier Touring tires measuring 195/70. The car was factory equipped with an independent suspension, a front stabilizer bar, and rack-and-pinion steering. Stopping is provided by power-assisted front disc brakes and rear drums. The wheels were sandblasted and clearcoated in 2020, the tires were replaced, the rear brakes were rebuilt, and the handbrake was repaired. The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl. Interior appointments include a wooden shift knob, a center cons
