AMC 360-Powered 1981 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler 4-Speed

This 1981 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler was acquired by the seller in 2023 and subsequently rebuilt with a 4″ Skyjacker lift and an AMC 360ci V8 paired with a CJ-sourced four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The pickup body was refinished in red following rust repairs to the front floor pans, the windshield was replaced, and 15″ chrome wheels with 35″ Goodyear Wrangler tires were installed. The truck is further equipped with a bed-mounted roll bar, a removable fiberglass hardtop, power brakes, a dual exhaust system with Thrush mufflers, and Dana 44 front and rear axles with 3.54:1 gearing. This CJ-8 is now offered with build documentation, a set of half doors, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean Iowa title in the seller’s name. Refinished in Firehawk Red under current ownership, the pickup body was removed from the frame and fitted with a replacement bed box and front floor pans prior to the repaint. The windshield was replaced at this time. Additional exterior details include a black removable fiberglass hardtop, a roll bar, hard doors, wood bed rails, step bars, a dropdown tailgate, and a fold-down windshield. Scratches are noted on the side windows. The truck rides on Skyjacker 4″ shackle lift springs and Skyjacker Softride extended shocks as well as boomerang-style extended shackles with bushings. The 15″ US Wheels chrome wheels are mounted with 35×15″ Goodyear Wrangler tires, and a spare is mounted on the swing-away tire carrier. The truck is equipped with power steering, and braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The front brake calipers and pads, rear brake cylinders and shoes, brake lines, and brake master cylinder were replaced under current ownership.
